When you come and visit Shift Acupuncture and Wellness in Lafayette, LA, we will help you find the root of your problems. Before you suffer from unnecessary surgeries and costly doctor visits, you need to look into your options. No matter what health concerns you have, we will ease them and pain. All of our services are used in conjunction with each other to make your experience personalized. Some of our services include:

  • Acupuncture

Acupuncture involves the insertion of very fine, sterile needles into different acupuncture points along the body. Ancient theories state that acupuncture normalizes the balance of "Qi" or life force energy within the body to relieve a variety of symptoms. Acupuncture is classically thought to work by influencing the Qi, which flows through channels – known as "meridians" – in the body. These channels can be compared to highways. When there are no impediments, traffic will move smoothly. But if there is an accident or other blockage, the normal flow can be disrupted. The patient's flow of energy is influenced by the needling of acupuncture points. Acupuncture can unblock obstructions in the body's meridians, promoting balance in the body.

We work on a variety of issues, including:

    • Muscle cramps

    • Headaches

    • Fertility

    • Digestion

    • Muscle soreness

    • Injuries

  • Electroacupuncture

Electroacupuncture is a variation of acupuncture where small cables are attached to the needles that have been inserted to assist in stimulating the muscles and fascia in a deeper way. The patients will feel and see pulsation at the site of the electroacupuncture. Adding electrical current strengthens the effect of the treatments.

  • Cupping

The suction from the cupping increases circulation to the area where the cups are placed. The surge of blood flow to that area can help relieve muscle tension, reduce the appearance of cellulite, promote cell repair, flush toxins, stimulate the lymphatic system, promote relaxation, aid digestion, and even treat asthma!

  • Herbal Medicine

From teas to pills, we will create herbal medicines that are customizable to you and your pain.

  • Gua Sha

Gua Sha is also referred to as scraping, spooning, or Graston therapy. It involves scraping the skin with a Gua Sha tool to stretch the connective tissue and break up adhesions in the fascia. This reduces pain, increases range of motion, and stimulates the lymphatic system.

  • PEMF (Pulsed Electromagnetic Field) Mat

Pulsed PEMF therapy treats your cells like batteries. It's common for them to slowly be drained of energy. The QRS PEMF mat that is used during every session sends magnetic energy into the body to influence electrical changes on a cellular level and increase cell metabolism. This process makes healing much more efficient in the body.

  • Moxibustion Heat Therapy

Moxibustion is a method of heating specific acupuncture points on the body by burning an herb material (mugwort) close to the skin. This technique can be used alone or in combination with acupuncture. It is wonderful for gynecological conditions and even turning breech babies. Patients feel a pleasant heating sensation that penetrates deep into the skin but should not experience any pain.

  • Castor Oil Packs

Castor oil packs are a non-invasive way to decrease pain, reduce inflammation, detox the liver, encourage elimination, increase overall wellness, and break up masses and scar tissue. It involves placing a cloth soaked in castor oil on different areas of the body and adding heat on top of the cloth for better penetration.
